What are the ID requirements for my check?
You will need one commencement document, one primary document, two secondary documents and a selfie ID photo holding one of your ID documents to complete your application.
The commencement documents we accept include:
- Australian Birth Certificate (non-extract)
- Australian Passport (expired within three years)
- Australian VISA / VEVO document
- Australian Citizenship Certificate
- ImmiCard issued by Dept of Home Affairs
The primary documents we accept include:
- Australian drivers licence, learners permit or provisional licence (digital licences accepted)
- International passport (accompanied by VISA / VEVO document)
- Proof of age or photo identity card issued by an Australian government agency (must contain photo, name and signature)
- Any unused commencement document
The secondary documents we accept include:
- Medicare card
- Titre De Voyage
- Firearms Licence
- Bank card / Credit card
- WWCC/WWVP Photo Card
- Consular photo identity card
- Australian tertiary student photo ID
- Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
- Trades License ID Card (Government Issued)
- Security Guard/Crowd Control photo Licence
- Pensioner / Health care card (Issued by Centrelink)
- Credit reference check (please ask us for specifications)
- Official Academic transcript (from an Australian Tertiary Institution)
- Certificate of Identity (issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade)
- Document of Identity (issued by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade)
- Foreign government issued photo ID (eg Drivers licence with translation)
- Australian voting enrolment (Australian citizens only, find your details here: AEC)
- Tax File Number (issued by the ATO must contain your full name on the document)
- Any unused commencement or primary document
Finally, you will need a selfie ID photo which is where you provide a photo of yourself, holding one of your ID documents that you submitted to your application. You must ensure that the ID document you’re holding in the photo is clear and readable. An example is provided below.
Note: All your ID documents must list the same name. If this is not the case and one of your ID documents list a different name to your other ID documents, for example, a different surname, then you must upload an additional document from the list below to support your change of name:
- Australian Marriage Certificate (Issued by state Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages)
- International Marriage Certificate
- Change of Name Certificate (Issued by state Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
- Australian Birth Certificate (With name change listed)
