How do police checks work in Australia?

Checked Australia is duly accredited by the Australian Government to provide applicants with their Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (National Police Check).

Once you have completed your application, by submitting a minimum of 4 ID documents along with your selfie, the team at Checked verify your identity. If we need clarification or additional information we will reach out to you.

This information is then reviewed by the national system that all national police checks in Australia are lodged via. If none of your personal information has a match or potential match to a criminal record held by any of the different Police Agencies, then your results will be returned immediately and you will receive notification of your results via email.

If there are any potential matches between your personal information and that of a criminal record held by the government, your application will be forwarded to the relevant Police Agency for a manual review. You can read more about this process in this article here.
