What does unsupervised, supervised and no vulnerable groups mean?

When completing your check, the level of access you have to vulnerable groups in the course of your engagement is a relevant to spent conviction legislation.


Vulnerable groups of society include, but are not limited to:

  • Children
  • The elderly
  • Refugees
  • The homeless
  • People with mental or physical disabilities
  • Pregnant women
  • Victims of abuse

The 3 categories you can choose from are:

  • Supervised: You will only be with vulnerable members of society in the presence of an adult who is responsible for the safety or care of the vulnerable person/groups.
  • Unsupervised: You will be with vulnerable members of society without an adult who is responsible for the safety or care of the vulnerable person/groups or you will be the adult responsible for them.
  • No contact: You will not have any contact with any vulnerable groups in your role.

Note: If you’re unsure about which option is most suitable for your role, please choose unsupervised as it will give the most cover for any scenario that you may face.
