Applying for past convictions to be spent in WA

In Western Australia (WA), convictions are not automatically spent. If eligible, you will need to apply to WA Police to have the conviction recorded as spent.

Option 1: Apply for a Spent Conviction with the WA Police

Submit an Application for a Certificate that a Lesser Conviction is Spent. If your conviction meets the eligibility criteria, it will be declared spent and will no longer appear on standard police checks.

Option 2: Apply through WA Police

If you apply for a National Police Certificate (NPC) directly through WA Police, your application will automatically include a spent conviction application for eligible convictions.
