Why have I been asked to re-upload my ID documents?
The Government sets clear guidelines for police check providers, like Checked, to follow in order to ensure that we meet their minimum identification standards . This means that from time to time you may be asked to either submit a new photo of your identity documentation or an alternative document if your first document has not met these standards.
Here is some more information on the most common reasons we may ask for a new document to be uploaded.
Expired documents:
In order to meet the guidelines your document must not have expired at the time of submission.
The only exception to this rule is Australian Passports which may have expired within the last 3 years
Your name is not consistent across your documents:
In order to confirm your identity, the name on all 4 of your identity documents needs to be consistent.
Sometimes your first or middle name may be abbreviated, especially on your secondary documents and that's okay but the following are not acceptable:
- Variations in spelling.
- Variations in the order of your names.
- Having additional names (usually middle names) showing up on some documents but not on your commencement document.
- The documents being in a name entirely different from the name listed on your application.
If you have changed your name and can provide a marriage certificate or a change of name certificate issued by Births Deaths and Marriages, you can provide this in addition to your documents to show linkage from one name to the other.
Here are some examples of acceptable and unacceptable variations:
Acceptable:
Birth certificate : Sally Amy Smith
Medicare card: Sally A Smith
Not acceptable:
Passport: Stephen Jones
Medicare card: Stephen Jack Jones
The picture was blurry:
If the picture you have uploaded is too blurry to read easily we may require a new photo be uploaded so that we can assess the validity of the document before we proceed.
The document provided is not an accepted ID document.
There is a very strict list of acceptable documents. If you have provided an ID type that we cannot accept we will ask you to provide a different document from the list.
The complete list can be seen here.
Your selfie does not meet the requirements.
In order for your selfie to meet our minimum requirements you must be holding one of your ID docs provided in your application.
The selfie must not be clear so that we can read the details of your identity document.
Your document needs a NATTI translation.
If one or more of your identity documents were issued internationally, and not written in English, we will need a NATTI translation provided alongside your document to accept it.
You can read more information about this process here.
