What is a Biometric Selfie ID photo?

A selfie ID photo is an additional ID requirement for online applications. You must provide a photo of yourself via the realtime capture on your mobile device or web camera, holding one of your ID documents that you submitted to your application. This is a legal requirement by the Australian Government to provide certainty the applicant is completing the application themselves.


What Is Required ✅

• The full face must be visible from forehead to chin and from cheek to cheek

• The photo must be clear, well lit and taken straight at eye level

• The identity document  you’re holding in the photo must be clear, legible. and not block any part of the face


What Is Not Accepted ❌

• Half-face photos or full-body photos

• Any part of the face covered by fingers, the ID, hair, shadows or objects

• Selfies with filters, beauty effects or colour changes

• Hats, caps, hoodies, sunglasses or items that hide facial features
