Do you accept a deed poll?

Yes, if your name was changed before 1986, a deed poll can be accepted as evidence of your name change.

If your name change occurred after 1986, deed polls and statutory declarations are not accepted. You will need to provide a Change of Name Certificate issued by the relevant Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
